Eight Committees

The three counties that we are focusing on through the six year grant are Androscoggin, Franklin, and Oxford Counties. The first three years of the grant will focus on ages birth to twelve, and years three through six will be focused on ages twelve through eighteen.

The committees will have co-chairs. One parent or youth will co-chair with a system of care staff or department representative.

How to get involved

Family Voice will ensure that the family voice is heard throughout the entire life of the grant (non-family members will be welcome as well). Training for family members will be provided such as: leadership, advocacy, mentorship, and other trainings as needed/requested by families. The committee will also work in conjunction with the other six committees, and the Governing Council.

Youth Voice will build on strengths of the youth and strengthen/build ties to their community; identify issues from a youth perspective; and provide leadership, advocacy, and mentorship trainings.

Interagency Collaboration issues addressed and discussed in this committee will be the "No Wrong Door" approach to the system of care; streamlined referrals, screening tools, and assessments; Memorandums of Understanding; and the barriers within policies and regulations that prevent a system of care approach to services.

Social Marketing this is the public and professional education arm of the system of care. Marketing strategies will need to be developed in concert with family, youth, and other interested stakeholders. Activities will also include advising and recommending what the message and medium should be to advertise Maine's Trauma – Informed System of Care.

Clinical and Evidence Based Practices will work on trauma- informed screening and assessments, and identification and implementation of evidence based practices. It will be imperative that we have family members on this committee to provide input on the selection of evidence-based practices for the system of care.

Multicultural Practices practices must meet the ethnic and cultural needs of our families and consumers within their communities. Items to be discussed will be how to communicate with various cultural groups and how we translate system of care materials to meet the linguistic needs of the consumer.

Evaluation will assist in supporting the outcome evaluation requirements of the grant; aid in training family evaluators for research gathering and date entry; and ensure that family and youth are involved during the development, implementation, and evaluation of the system of care.
